Bondie E. Armstrong

NOLENSVILLE, Tenn. - Bondie E. Armstrong, 70, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, at his home in Nolensville, Tenn. Born in Union County on May 26, 1934, to the late Cullens and Stella Armstrong, he was a graduate of Center High School. He received his B.A. degree from the University of Mississippi and his Ed.D. from the University of Memphis. He taught in the Clayton County School System in Jonesboro, Ga., and was employed at the State Technical Institute in Memphis from 1966 to 1989. Besides loving family, life and literature, he was a farmer at heart. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at United Funeral Service Chapel in New Albany. Per his wishes, his family will scatter his ashes on the hill behind his home in Nolensville, Tenn. The family will have an informal gathering in the future to plant a dogwood tree and wildflowers in his memory. Family and friends are welcome to attend and may contact the family for further details. Survivors include his wife, Margie Armstrong of Memphis; a daughter, Stephanie Pullen and husband, Steve; a son, Jeffrey Armstrong; a grandson, Zachary Pullen; two sisters, Margaret Dunlap and Latane Foley; two brothers, Gerald and Danny Armstrong. Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 1421 E. 12 Mile Road No. A, Madison Heights, MI 48071.

I'm sorry to say that after trying off and on for years to track down Mr. Armstrong, I just found this notice.... He was one of my favorite teachers. Steve Binger
