Clyde Eidson

G. Clyde Eidson, 99, Fayetteville, formerly of Jonesboro and Atlanta West End, died March 19, 2002. He was born Dec. 14, 1902 in Fitzpatrick, Ala. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Evelyn Owens Eidson. He was graduated from the University of Alabama, served as principal at Mountville High School, Mountville, Ga., received his masters degree from the University of Chicago, and taught at Boy’s High and Brown High in the Atlanta school system for 30 years. He was well known for teaching English and literature. Upon his retirement, he taught in the Clayton County School system for about 10 years, and retired again at which point he and his wife moved to a farm in Fayetteville. He was a member of the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church for 30 years. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Dr. Sam Matthews officiating. Interment was at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. Survivors include sons, Djo S. and Laura Eidson, Fayetteville, and Thomas C. and Joy Eidson, Turin; a daughter, Lynne Eidson, Forest Park; grandchildren, Bill Eidson, Birmingham, Ala., Susan and David Hambrick, Dallas, Texas, Mark and Cindy Eidson, Stockbridge, Wendy and Todd Howell, Warner Robins, Christy and Johnny Stewart, Moreland, and Alicia Gaff, Mableton; great-grandchildren, Jessica and Karli Eidson, Opelika, Ala., Kevin Bradley, Stockbridge, Kara and Alexandra Stewart, Moreland, and a sister, Kathleen Eidson, Atlanta. Memorial donations may be made to the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 179 E. Lanier Ave., Fayetteville, GA 30214. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.
