Douglas Wesley Norris

Douglas Wesley Norris, age 74, of McDonough, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2022. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia to Edgar Wesley Norris and Mary Lela Mask Norris. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Don Norris.

Doug was employed by FedEx Freight and has been a truck driver for over 49 years. He was selfless, if not proven by his career, just ask those who were blessed to call him friend. Doug would do anything for anyone, helping a friend brought him great joy. Doug loved the water; whether it was the ocean or the lake, he was in a happy place as the designated boat driver. In his later years, Doug and Lynn really developed a love for the mountains and enjoyed their trips together. Many would describe Doug as quiet and sometimes shy, but his family will remember him most as the loving Honey, Dad, and Granddad who made them smile.

Doug leaves to carry his legacy: his wife of 31 years, Lynn Norris; son, Joe (Angie) Norris, daughter, Ashley (Nick) Ellis; grandchildren, Josh Norris, Noah Norris, and Maison Ellis; brothers, Denny (Debbie) Norris; sister-in-law, Pam Norris; several nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family, close friends, and his FedEx family.

A service to honor Doug’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 in the East Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Pastor Warren Green officiating. Interment will follow beginning 2:00 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 10, 2022 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. The family requests that all those in attendance of the visitation and service please wear a mask. Those who wish may sign the online guest registry at www.cannonclevelandfunerals.com.
